For Pet Professionals

Why It’s More Important Than Ever to Know Your Aftercare Provider

Today, more than ever, it is so important that you protect your clients and your practice by taking the time to form a close relationship with your aftercare provider, ensuring that you really know them, and have a comprehensive, professional, documented understanding of the services they provide and the practices that they employ after leaving your office.

The pet cremation industry is currently unregulated. There is no enforcement of unified terms, descriptions, or standards of service. Service names, and operating procedures, specifically Individual Cremation, often do not match client’s expectations and can be misleading. New service providers, seeing the opportunity for financial gain are popping up everywhere. And veterinarians are finding themselves entangled in lawsuits because client expectations under their care do not match the services they received by the aftercare provider they recommended.

As a dedicated, caring professional you have an intimate relationship with your patients and their families through every stage of their pet’s life. You’ve worked hard to establish trust with your clients, and would do your utmost to protect that trust.

At Cedar Hills we not only understand and respect that trust, we guard it. Since 1972 we’ve passionately pioneered pet aftercare services for Tennessee’s veterinarians and pet lovers. We are dedicated to providing dignified, trustworthy options for beloved pets’ final rest, as well as comfort, security, and peace of mind for veterinarians and their grieving clients.

The International Association of Pet Cemeteries and Crematories, a national coalition of concerned, responsible pet aftercare providers, of which Cedar Hills is a voluntary member, has set out to standardize our industry, developing a code of ethics, universal service terms, and official crematory operating and tracking procedures.

Our goal is to fortify the integrity of our industry, and to protect our veterinarians, our clients, and ourselves by guaranteeing that in all our business dealings IAOPCC members are committed to excellence, to a clear understanding of services rendered, and to fair and equitable principles.
